The Acura TSX is a wildly successful model, giving car buyers a shot at a luxury vehicle with a value price. Still Acura has decided to do anything but sit around basking in the model’s success. Acura has rolled out a serious list of updates to the 2011 Acura TSX lineup, most notably the addition of the TSX Sport Wagon to the model mix.
Significant upgrades have been made to both engines to create longevity and better fuel efficiency. The exterior has been spruced up. And there are several new tech features that further the cause of luxuriousness while driving.
With the updates to engine efficiency, both the 5-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmissions on the 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder see an improvement of one mpg combined. The 3.5-liter V6 takes a bump of two additional mpg combined. The all-new Sport Wagon’s 2.4-liter 5-speed automatic boasts a combined 25 mpg rating, just one mpg less than the sedan with the same drivetrain.
Moving to the interior, 2011 TSX models see darker trim and revised center console and parking brake styling. For leather seating, contrast stitching has been added all around. Additionally, the rear seats now offer heating/cooling vents placed on the back of the console, which also features a climate controlled cargo compartment.
The TSX Wagon offers diversity for the interior of the line. With more than 60 cubic feet of cargo storage with the rear seats down and a 28-inch rear doorway, the versatility of the Wagon will appeal to a range of buyers looking to move sports equipment like bikes and surfboards as well as anyone with more traditional toting needs. The cargo area of the TSX Sport Wagon is the largest in its category, besting the BMW 3 Series that offers just 54.7 cubic feet and the Audi A4 that offers 56.5. The 60 cubic feet even outdoes the cargo areas on some compact SUVs, making it a highly competitive model given its drivability and fuel economy as compared to any competitor in the SUV arena.
The exterior design has been updated on the TSX as well, with a new front fascia and grille. The front of the model becomes more striking, and updated taillights work to offer the same treatment to the rear look. The wheels also see a change, now featuring lip on the spokes’ face for the 17-inch aluminum wheels that come standard on the 4-cylinder models.
All 2011 Acura TSX models are now on display at your San Mateo Acura dealer. The model has always been a favorite among enthusiasts and shoppers looking for luxury but unwilling to pay for overpriced luxury brands. And the latest from the TSX line is sure to further the success of the model and continue to keep car buyers happy.
